SafeBit Virtual Disk Encryption Software
Quick Tour - User Interface

NEXT - Create A Safe >>>

SafeBit has an attractive easy-to-use interface. Every process is wizard driven - the program will guide you step by step through the process.

When you start the program the main window will open. The window is divided in three sections.

The first section on the left side displays the Safe related security options: Open Safe, Close Safe, Close All, New Safe, Destroy Safe, Properties, Backup Safe. Click one of these options to work with the selected safe.

The second section displays a list of your Safes and their status. Double-click a safe to open it. Right click a safe to bring up a menu with additional options for that safe.

The third section briefly displays the properties for the selected safe (Only if you allow this. When working on friendly environments you might want to see the details of the safe, but you can deactivate this in the properties window).

SafeBit Disk Encryption Main Window

A Safe is an encrypted container in which you can securely store your files. When opened it becomes, a new virtual disk drive added to your current physical disk drives. The Safe is password protected and uses AES encryption (Rijndael) to secure the files. You can have several Safes on your hard drive, as big as your real hard-drive is. SafeBit offers on-the-fly disk encryption: it automatically encrypts any file you place in the Safe. This process is completely transparent to you.

Initially the safes are closed:

To work with a safe you must open it by double-clicking the icon. In a few seconds the safe will be opened:

When the safe is opened a new disk drive will appear. The virtual disk drive of the safe will have a letter assigned to it, just like a real disk drive. The letters of the virtual disk safes are usually letters from the end of the alphabet (...,X,Y,Z). Once opened you can work with the safe just like you work with a normal disk drive. Disk encryption is made on-the-fly by a driver. In an opened Safe you can perform all the normal file operations: copy files to Safe, copy files from Safe, delete, move or rename files, install programs, run applications, etc.

When you no longer need it, close the safe to secure your files. When the Safe is closed, the drive letter disappears and your files won't be accessible to unwanted users. You can change the properties of a Safe, like the password, size, letter, container file, only when the safe is closed.

In the upper right corner you can see the Options and Help buttons. The Close button in the bottom-right corner only minimizes the program (so that you benefit from the Automatic Closure System). To completely close the program choose the Shutdown from the tray menu.

When working with wizards in the program use the buttons at the bottom to move between steps.

You can just type the password if you're working on a secured computer, or you can use the Virtual Keyboard to enter the password using the mouse and protect yourself against spyware, trojans or any keylogger software.
