Just follow the steps and input information when prompted. First select Create New Safe from the main page, and the wizard will open. Fill in the name for the Safe in the first field. You will notice that SafeBit assigns a default name for every safe but of course you can change this. The name field is always required. This name will identify your Safe in the list of Safes. Fill in a description for your Safe. This field is optional. If you are working in a friendly environment you might want to give a description for the Safe, to remind you what type of information you put in this Safe. Type in a password for your Safe. Click the [ * ] button to make the password visible. Confirm the password by retyping it. You can use the Virtual Keyboard to enter the password using the mouse and protect yourself against spyware, trojans or any keylogger software. Warning - If you forget the password of your Safe, you will never be able to access it or even to destroy it. Passwords smallar than 10 characters are insecure. Do NOT use simplistic passwords or ussual words like your name, your phone number or your address.
SafeBit gives you the option to save your hard disk encryption password on removable devices ( such as USB sticks, flash drives, memory card, external hard drives, etc. ). The password will be saved encrypted. If you save the password on a removable device, operations with your Safes will be much easier. All you'll have to do is to connect the device and the Safe will open automatically. You will still be able to open the Safe manually by typing the password. When you disconnect the removable device, the Safe will close. You can decide to save your password later, from the Properties window. Click Next to continue the wizard. In the the next page you'll have to enter the properties of your Safe. SafeBit will set these to default secured values, but you can choose to change them if you want. Every safe has a Container File. In this section you may choose a different name and location for the Container File, the size of the safe, and assigned letter to use when you open it. Choose a name and location for the Container File. By default the location is: C:\Program Files\SafeBit\Safes\NameOfTheSafe.safe We recommend to keep the Safe in the default container folder for better security. Use the browse button on the right to choose a different location for the Container File. Select the size of the safe by dragging the size bar or by entering a value in MBytes in the input box. Select the letter to be assigned to the Safe (when the safe is opened). You can also choose to automatically open this Safe at Windows startup. Click Next to create the Safe and start the hard disk encryption process. When the hard disk encryption is completed, click the Finish button to return to the main window. You will notice that the default status of any new safe is "closed". Double-Click it to open it.
